Detailed Day To Day Itinerary - 6 Days Golden Triangle India Tour

Day 1: Welcome to Delhi – Your Indian Adventure Begins

Your journey starts the moment you land at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, or wherever you’re staying in the city. Our friendly driver will be waiting with a sign with your name on it—no stress, no confusion, just a warm welcome to India. After you check into your comfortable hotel, you’ll have some time to relax and shake off any jet lag.

If you’re feeling up for it, we’ll take an evening drive to see some of Delhi’s most famous landmarks. India Gate stands tall and beautiful, especially when it’s lit up at night—it’s a war memorial that honors Indian soldiers, and it’s a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. Then we’ll cruise through Connaught Place, a lively area with shops, restaurants, and a real buzz of energy that gives you your first taste of Delhi’s vibrant culture. Take it easy tonight—bigger adventures await tomorrow.

  • Pickup from Delhi airport, hotel, or your preferred location
  • Check-in at your hotel
  • Evening visit to India Gate and Connaught Place
  • Welcome dinner at a local restaurant (optional)
  • Overnight stay in Delhi
Day 2: Discovering the Heart and Soul of Delhi

Today you’ll see two sides of Delhi that couldn’t be more different—and that’s what makes this city so fascinating. We’ll start in Old Delhi, where narrow lanes twist and turn through centuries of history. The chaos here is part of the charm: rickshaws honking, vendors calling out, the smell of spices and street food in the air. You’ll visit Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India—its massive courtyard can hold 25,000 people, and the architecture is absolutely stunning. Then there’s the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with massive red sandstone walls that once housed Mughal emperors. We’ll take a thrilling rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, one of India’s oldest and busiest markets, and stop at Raj Ghat, the peaceful memorial where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

After lunch, we’ll head to New Delhi, which feels like a completely different city. Here everything is more spacious and organized—wide boulevards, green parks, and impressive government buildings. You’ll see the Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world and another UNESCO site, and Humayun’s Tomb, a beautiful garden tomb that actually inspired the design of the Taj Mahal. We’ll drive past the President’s House and Parliament buildings so you can see where India’s government operates. By the end of today, you’ll understand why Delhi is called a city of contrasts.

  • Full breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Jama Masjid and Red Fort
  • Exciting rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk
  • Visit Raj Ghat memorial
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Explore Qutub Minar (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • Visit Humayun’s Tomb (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • Drive past India Gate, President’s House, and Parliament
  • Return to hotel for overnight stay
Day 3: Journey to Agra – Home of the Taj Mahal

After breakfast, we’ll hit the road for Agra, home to one of the world’s most famous buildings. The drive takes about 3-4 hours on a smooth highway, and you can sit back, relax, and watch the Indian countryside roll by. Once we arrive in Agra, the first stop is Agra Fort—and trust us, this place is massive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is made of red sandstone and was home to Mughal emperors for generations. You’ll walk through grand courtyards, peek into royal chambers, and hear stories of love, power, and intrigue that played out within these walls. Fun fact: from certain spots in the fort, you can actually see the Taj Mahal in the distance.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll visit the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, often called the “Baby Taj” because it’s like a smaller, more delicate version of the Taj Mahal. The intricate marble work here is absolutely beautiful. As the sun starts to set, we’ll head to Mehtab Bagh, a garden across the river from the Taj Mahal. This is one of the best spots to watch the sunset with the Taj in the background—the light turns everything golden, and it’s magical. Get your cameras ready because you’ll want to capture this moment.

  • Breakfast at hotel and check-out
  • Drive to Agra (approximately 3-4 hours)
  • Visit Agra Fort (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • Explore Itimad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb (Baby Taj)
  • Sunset view at Mehtab Bagh
  • Check-in at Agra hotel
  • Overnight stay in Agra
Day 4: Taj Mahal at Sunrise & On to the Pink City of Jaipur

Set your alarm early today—it’ll be worth it, we promise. We’ll pick you up before dawn to experience the Taj Mahal at sunrise, and this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment. As the sun comes up, the white marble seems to glow and change colors right before your eyes—pink, orange, and gold. The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a monument to his beloved wife, and standing there, you can feel the love story in every detail. It’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and no photo can really do it justice—you just have to see it for yourself. Your guide will share the fascinating history and point out incredible details in the marble inlay work.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast, we’ll begin our journey to Jaipur, but not before making a very special stop. About halfway between Agra and Jaipur is Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned Mughal city that’s frozen in time. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by Emperor Akbar but was only used for about 15 years before being abandoned due to water shortages. Walking through the empty palaces and courtyards feels like stepping back 400 years. The red sandstone architecture is stunning, and the stories your guide tells will bring it all to life. After exploring, we’ll continue to Jaipur, known as the Pink City because many of its buildings are painted in shades of terracotta pink. Tonight you can relax, or if you’re feeling adventurous, we can arrange a visit to Chokhi Dhani, an ethnic village resort where you can experience traditional Rajasthani folk music, dance, and food.

  • Early morning visit to Taj Mahal at sunrise
  • Return to hotel for breakfast and check-out
  • Drive toward Jaipur with stop at Fatehpur Sikri (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • Explore the abandoned Mughal city
  • Continue drive to Jaipur (approximately 5 hours total travel time)
  • Check-in at Jaipur hotel
  • Optional evening visit to Chokhi Dhani village
  • Overnight stay in Jaipur
Day 5: Royal Jaipur – Forts, Palaces, and Bazaars

Today is all about experiencing the royal heritage of Rajasthan, and Jaipur doesn’t disappoint. After breakfast, we’ll head to Amber Fort, perched on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake. Here’s where it gets really fun—you can choose to ride an elephant or take a jeep up the winding path to the fort entrance. Once inside, you’ll explore beautiful courtyards, intricate mirror work that sparkles in the light, and stunning views over the surrounding landscape. The blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture is incredible, and you’ll understand why the Rajput kings lived here in such style.

On the way back, we’ll stop at Jal Mahal, the Water Palace, which sits in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. You can’t go inside, but it makes for amazing photos—imagine a palace floating on water with mountains in the background. Then we’ll visit the City Palace, which is still home to Jaipur’s royal family. You’ll see museums filled with royal artifacts, textiles, and even a collection of weapons. Right next door is Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built in the 1700s with massive instruments that were used to study the stars—it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and really mind-blowing when you learn how accurate these ancient instruments were.

We’ll also stop at Hawa Mahal, the famous Palace of Winds. This five-story pink sandstone building has 953 small windows and was built so royal women could watch street festivals without being seen. After all that sightseeing, you’ll have time to explore Jaipur’s incredible bazaars. Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar are perfect for picking up souvenirs—think colorful textiles, handcrafted jewelry, beautiful pottery, and traditional Rajasthani handicrafts. Don’t be shy about bargaining; it’s all part of the fun!

Your incredible Golden Triangle adventure is coming to an end, but we’ve got one more day to make count. After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll have some free time in Jaipur. If you’re a morning person, you could visit Nahargarh Fort for panoramic views of the Pink City spread out below, or just enjoy a leisurely morning at the hotel. If shopping is your thing and you didn’t get enough yesterday, we can take you back to the bazaars for any last-minute souvenirs.

After lunch, we’ll begin the drive back to Delhi, which takes about 5-6 hours. Depending on what time your flight is, we can make stops along the way or go straight to the airport or your hotel. If you have time before your flight, we can visit the Lotus Temple, a stunning modern building shaped like a lotus flower that’s open to people of all religions, or the magnificent Akshardham Temple with its incredible carved stonework and water show. We’ll make sure you get to the airport with plenty of time to spare, and our driver will help you with your luggage and see you off. As you board your flight home, you’ll be taking with you memories, photos, and stories that will last forever. India has a way of staying with you long after you leave—and we have a feeling you’ll be planning your next visit before you even land back home.

FAQ's

Absolutely! This tour is specifically designed with first-time visitors in mind. We know India can feel overwhelming at first, so we’ve created an itinerary that shows you the highlights without rushing. You’ll have a private driver with you the entire time, expert guides at each monument, and we handle all the logistics. All you have to do is show up and enjoy. Our drivers and guides speak English, and they’re experienced at making international travellers feel comfortable. We’ve had countless first-timers tell us this tour was the perfect introduction to India.

We work with clean, comfortable, well-reviewed hotels in each city that meet international standards. You can choose from different categories—3-star standard hotels, 4-star deluxe properties, or 5-star luxury accommodations—depending on your budget and preferences. All hotels include private bathrooms, air conditioning, WiFi, and breakfast. We’ve personally vetted every property to ensure they’re safe, clean, and conveniently located. If you have specific hotel preferences or want to upgrade, just let us know when booking.

There’s a moderate amount of walking at the monuments and forts, usually on mostly flat surfaces, though some areas have stairs or uneven ground. At Amber Fort, you’ll ride an elephant or jeep up the hill, so that reduces walking. If you have mobility concerns, please let us know in advance—we can adjust the pace and skip areas with difficult terrain. The good news is that you’ll have a private vehicle, so you’re never walking long distances between sites, and you can rest in the air-conditioned car whenever you need a break.

The best time is between October and March when the weather is cooler and more comfortable, with daytime temperatures usually between 60-80°F (15-27°C). December and January can get chilly in the mornings and evenings, so bring a light jacket. We do run tours year-round, but April through June can be very hot (often over 100°F/38°C), and July through September is monsoon season with occasional heavy rain. If you can plan your trip for the October-March window, you’ll have the best weather and most comfortable experience.

This is a completely private tour—it’s just you, your travel companions, your driver, and your guides. You’ll never be mixed with strangers or have to wait for other people. The vehicle, itinerary, and schedule are all yours. This means you have flexibility: if you want to spend extra time somewhere or skip something that doesn’t interest you, we can adjust. It’s your trip, customized to your pace and preferences.

Pack comfortable walking shoes—you’ll be on your feet at temples and forts. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites: shoulders and knees should be covered (lightweight long pants or skirts and t-shirts work great). Bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses—the sun can be strong. A light jacket is useful for early mornings and air-conditioned spaces. In October-March, layers are your friend since mornings can be cool and afternoons warm. Don’t forget your camera, phone charger, and any personal medications. We recommend a small day bag for carrying water, snacks, and your valuables.

Breakfast is included every day at your hotel. Lunch and dinner are not included, which gives you the flexibility to try different restaurants and cuisines based on your mood and budget. Your guide and driver can recommend excellent local restaurants at every stop—from budget-friendly street food to upscale dining. Most travellers appreciate this flexibility since food preferences vary so much. If you’d prefer to have all meals included, we can arrange that as an add-on when you book.

Yes, this tour is very safe. You’ll be with a professional driver at all times, staying in reputable hotels, and visiting well-established tourist sites with security. Our drivers are experienced, background-checked, and trained to take care of international guests. Solo travelers and women travel with us regularly and feel completely comfortable. That said, as with any destination, use common sense: keep valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, and follow your guide’s advice. We’re available 24/7 if you need assistance during your trip.

Definitely! While this is our recommended itinerary, we understand everyone travels differently. Want to spend more time shopping and less time at monuments? Prefer to skip the elephant ride? Want to add a cooking class or yoga session? Just tell us what you’re interested in, and we’ll adjust the itinerary accordingly. Since this is a private tour, we have complete flexibility. We can also extend the tour if you want to spend extra days in any city or add additional destinations.

Tipping is customary in India but not mandatory. As a general guideline, most travelers tip their driver about $5-7 USD per day and local guides about $3-5 USD per site, depending on the service quality. Tips for hotel staff and restaurant servers are usually 10% of the bill. That said, tipping should reflect your satisfaction with the service—if someone goes above and beyond, feel free to tip more. All tips are separate from the tour cost and are given directly to the staff member.

All hotels include free WiFi in rooms and common areas. Cell service is generally good in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur—these are major cities with modern infrastructure. If you want to use your phone for calls or data during the trip, we recommend either getting an international plan from your carrier or purchasing an Indian SIM card when you arrive (available at the airport). Your driver will have a working phone at all times in case you need to make any calls or arrangements.

Don’t worry—we monitor flight arrivals, and if your flight is delayed, your driver will wait for you at the airport. There’s no extra charge for reasonable delays. Just make sure to provide your correct flight information when you book. If there’s a major delay or cancellation, please contact us as soon as possible, and we’ll adjust the pickup time. We understand that travel doesn’t always go as planned, and we’re here to make things as smooth as possible for you.
