6 Nights / 7 Days Georgia Itinerary

5 Star ratings based on 288 Reviews

Overview

Imagine standing where Europe whispers to Asia, where snow-capped peaks pierce clouds, ancient wines flow from clay vessels buried underground, and every meal feels like a warm hug from a friend you haven’t met yet. This is Georgia – not the state, but the country that’s been quietly stealing hearts for over 3,000 years.

If you’ve been scrolling through travel photos thinking “maybe someday,” let this be your sign. Georgia isn’t just another stamp in your passport – it’s the adventure that changes how you see the world. Picture yourself riding a 4×4 up mountain roads so dramatic they don’t seem real, tasting wine made the exact same way people made it 8,000 years ago, and exploring cave monasteries carved into cliffsides that make you wonder how humans even built them.

This isn’t one of those tours where you’re herded around like cattle, checking boxes on a list. This is 7 days of pure magic designed for people like you – first-time international travelers ready to step out of your comfort zone, adventure lovers who want more than just pretty photos, and anyone who’s ever dreamed of a place that feels both incredibly foreign and strangely like home.

We’ve packed this trip with everything: the cobblestone charm of Tbilisi’s Old Town glowing under streetlights, the heart-stopping beauty of the Georgian Military Highway winding through the Caucasus Mountains, wine tastings in sun-drenched vineyards where the winemaker might just become your new best friend, and those pinch-me moments when you’re standing at Gergeti Trinity Church with Mount Kazbek towering behind you thinking, “I can’t believe this is my life right now.”

And here’s the best part – you don’t have to figure out a single thing. We’ve arranged every transfer, every hotel, every mountain jeep ride, every “how do we get there?” moment. You just show up, soak it all in, and come home with stories that’ll make everyone else want to book their own trip.

Georgia is calling. Your adventure starts now. Are you ready?

Detailed Day To Day Itinerary - 6 Nights / 7 Days Georgia Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Tbilisi – Where Your Georgian Story Begins

Your adventure kicks off the moment you land at Tbilisi International Airport. Take a deep breath – you’re not in India anymore, and that’s exactly the point. Our friendly representative will greet you with a warm smile and whisk you away to your hotel in the heart of the city. After you’ve freshened up and shaken off the flight, it’s time to dip your toes into Tbilisi’s enchanting Old Town.

The evening is yours to wander through streets that look like they’ve been plucked from a fairy tale. Rustaveli Avenue buzzes with energy – locals out for evening strolls, street musicians playing traditional instruments, and the smell of fresh khachapuri (Georgia’s famous cheese bread) wafting from corner bakeries. Walk across the illuminated Bridge of Peace, a modern glass and steel marvel that looks like a spaceship landed in this ancient city, and find yourself in Rike Park where locals gather to chat, laugh, and watch the world go by.

If you’re feeling adventurous on night one, grab dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant. Trust us – try the khinkali (soup dumplings that you eat with your hands) and wash it down with a glass of amber wine. Don’t know what amber wine is? You’re about to find out, and your taste buds will thank you.

Day 1 Highlights:

  • Airport pickup and comfortable transfer to your centrally located hotel
  • Evening exploration of the atmospheric Old Town at your own pace
  • Walk along the glowing Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi’s main cultural hub
  • Cross the futuristic Bridge of Peace for stunning nighttime views
  • Relax in Rike Park, where modern Tbilisi meets traditional charm
  • Optional welcome dinner with live Georgian folk music and traditional dancing

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 2: Tbilisi Deep Dive – Falling in Love with the Capital

Today you’re going to understand why everyone who visits Tbilisi ends up with it tattooed on their heart. We start by taking the cable car up to Narikala Fortress – and when we say the views are breathtaking, we mean you’ll literally forget to breathe for a second. This 4th-century fortress overlooks the entire city, and from up here, you’ll see Tbilisi spread out like a storybook: red-tiled roofs, the Mtkvari River snaking through the center, and mountains framing everything like nature’s perfect picture frame.

Next up is the Abanotubani district, where those famous sulfur baths have been soothing tired travelers since the 5th century. The domed bathhouses look like something out of Arabian Nights, and the natural hot springs still bubble up from deep underground. You’ll wander through the narrow streets of Meidan Square, where every corner reveals another Instagram-worthy moment – colorful balconies, hidden courtyards, and cats lounging in the sun like they own the place (they kind of do).

We’ll visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, also called Sameba, which is so massive and golden it’s visible from almost anywhere in the city. Then there’s Metekhi Church, perched on a cliff overlooking the river, and the absolutely mind-blowing Chronicle of Georgia – a circular monument covered in biblical scenes that most tourists miss but you won’t because we know what’s up.

The day winds down at Mtatsminda Park, perched high above the city. Whether you ride the funicular railway or the cable car, getting there is half the fun. Up top, you can grab a coffee, wander through the amusement park, or just sit and watch the sunset paint Tbilisi in shades of gold and pink.

Day 2 Highlights:

  • Scenic cable car ride up to ancient Narikala Fortress with 360-degree city views
  • Explore the unique Abanotubani Sulfur Baths District with its distinctive domed architecture
  • Wander the charming cobblestone alleys of Meidan Square and Old Town
  • Visit the magnificent Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), one of the world’s tallest Orthodox churches
  • Discover Metekhi Church with its dramatic riverside cliff location
  • Marvel at the Chronicle of Georgia monument with its towering carved pillars
  • Evening at Mtatsminda Park with panoramic sunset views and optional funicular ride
  • Free time for café hopping or trying local street food

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 3: The Georgian Military Highway – Mountains That'll Make You Cry (Happy Tears)

Buckle up, because today is the day that’ll end up as your phone’s wallpaper for the next year. We’re driving the legendary Georgian Military Highway, one of the most spectacular mountain roads on planet Earth. This isn’t just a drive – it’s a journey through clouds, past ancient fortresses, and into landscapes so dramatic you’ll think someone edited them in Photoshop (spoiler: they didn’t).

First stop is Ananuri Fortress, a 17th-century castle complex sitting right on the edge of the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir. The contrast between the ancient stone walls and the impossibly blue water is the kind of thing that makes you understand why Georgia has inspired poets for centuries. We’ll continue climbing through Gudauri, Georgia’s premier ski resort, where even in summer the views are insane. The Friendship Monument here is this wild circular structure covered in colorful murals – it’s trippy, it’s Soviet-era, and it’s an absolute must for photos.

But the real showstopper? That’s Kazbegi (also called Stepantsminda). We’re talking about a mountain town that looks like it was designed by someone who thought “regular beautiful” wasn’t enough. After settling into your hotel, we hop into rugged 4×4 jeeps for the ride up to Gergeti Trinity Church. This 14th-century church sits at 2,170 meters above sea level, literally among the clouds, with the massive peak of Mount Kazbek (5,047 meters) looming behind it. When you’re standing there, with nothing but mountains, sky, and this tiny ancient church between you and heaven, you’ll understand why people travel halfway around the world for this moment.

Day 3 Highlights:

  • Scenic drive along the famous Georgian Military Highway through the Caucasus Mountains
  • Photo stop at picturesque Ananuri Fortress overlooking the brilliant blue Zhinvali Reservoir
  • Visit the unique Soviet-era Friendship Monument at Gudauri with its colorful mosaic artwork
  • Stop at scenic snow viewpoints in Gudauri (seasonal, weather dependent)
  • Arrive in stunning Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) surrounded by towering peaks
  • Thrilling 4×4 jeep ride up mountain roads to Gergeti Trinity Church
  • Stand at the iconic 14th-century church perched at 2,170 meters with Mount Kazbek as backdrop
  • Free evening to explore Kazbegi town or simply soak in the mountain atmosphere

Overnight: Kazbegi

Day 4: Waterfalls, Gorges, and Back to Civilization

Before we leave the mountains, we’ve got a couple more natural wonders to show you. First up is Gveleti Waterfall, reached by a short hike through gorgeous forested trails. It’s an easy to moderate walk – nothing crazy – but the payoff is this beautiful cascading waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and the constant sound of rushing water. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit on a rock, breathe in that pure mountain air, and feel grateful to be alive.

Then we’ll drive to Dariali Gorge, a dramatic canyon near the Russian border where the Tergi River has carved through the mountains over millions of years. The gorge walls rise up on either side of the road, and there’s something both beautiful and slightly intense about being in this narrow passage with mountains towering overhead.

After lunch, we start the drive back to Tbilisi, but don’t worry – the scenery on the way back is just as incredible as it was coming up. You’ll arrive in the capital by evening with the rest of the night free. Maybe hit up some of those cute cafés you spotted on Day 2, or do some shopping for souvenirs – Georgian spices, handmade crafts, and those beautiful enamel jewelry pieces make perfect gifts (or perfect treats for yourself, we don’t judge).

Day 4 Highlights:

  • Morning hike to the beautiful Gveleti Waterfall through forested mountain trails
  • Visit the dramatic Dariali Gorge with its towering canyon walls near the Russian border
  • Scenic drive back to Tbilisi along the Georgian Military Highway (different views on the return!)
  • Free evening in Tbilisi for personal exploration
  • Optional activities: café hopping in trendy neighborhoods, souvenir shopping, or visiting local markets
  • Relax and recharge at your hotel after two days in the mountains

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 5: Wine Country – Where 8,000 Years of Tradition Meets Your Glass

If you thought you knew wine, Georgia is about to blow your mind. This country invented wine. Like, actually invented it – 8,000 years ago. Today we’re heading to Kakheti, the sun-drenched eastern region where vineyards stretch as far as you can see and winemaking isn’t just a business, it’s a way of life.

First stop is the Bodbe Monastery, a peaceful complex surrounded by cypress trees and flower gardens, with views overlooking the Alazani Valley. This is where St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, is buried. Whether you’re religious or not, there’s something incredibly peaceful about this place.

Then we roll into Sighnaghi, and honestly, this town is so cute it almost doesn’t seem real. Nicknamed the “City of Love,” Sighnaghi sits on a hilltop surrounded by 18th-century defensive walls that you can actually walk along. Cobblestone streets, pastel-colored houses with wooden balconies, and views over the Alazani Valley that seem to go on forever – it’s the kind of place where you’ll take 500 photos and still feel like you didn’t capture it properly.

And now for the moment you’ve been waiting for: wine tasting. We’ll visit a local winery where they still make wine the traditional Georgian way – in qvevri (large clay vessels buried underground). You’ll taste amber wines (white grapes fermented with their skins on – a Georgian specialty), bold reds, and maybe even some chacha (Georgian grape vodka that’ll put hair on your chest). The winemakers here are passionate, generous with their pours, and love sharing their traditions with visitors. Don’t be surprised if a tasting turns into a feast – Georgians don’t know how to do anything halfway.

Day 5 Highlights:

  • Scenic drive through Georgia’s famous Kakheti wine region with endless vineyard views
  • Visit the serene Bodbe Monastery surrounded by beautiful gardens and cypress trees
  • Explore Sighnaghi, the charming “City of Love” with its cobblestone streets and colorful architecture
  • Walk along Sighnaghi’s 18th-century defensive walls with panoramic Alazani Valley views
  • Wine tasting experience at a traditional Kakheti winery
  • Learn about ancient Georgian winemaking methods using qvevri (clay vessels)
  • Sample unique amber wines, bold reds, and traditional varieties
  • Optional: Extended winery tour with traditional Georgian feast (highly recommended)

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 6: Mtskheta – Walking Through Georgia's Ancient Soul

Today we’re time-traveling to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. This place is so historically significant that UNESCO said “yeah, this needs to be protected forever” and made it a World Heritage Site. And they weren’t wrong.

We start at Jvari Monastery, sitting on a rocky hilltop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Built in the 6th century, this cross-shaped church is one of the most important examples of early Georgian Christian architecture. But honestly, you don’t need to know anything about architecture to appreciate it – just stand there and let the views wash over you. The two rivers meeting below, the valley spreading out in all directions, and this ancient stone church that’s been standing here for 1,400 years… it hits different.

Then we head down to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in the heart of Mtskheta. Legend says this is where Christ’s robe is buried, making it one of the holiest sites in Georgia. The cathedral is stunning – huge vaulted ceilings, ancient frescoes, and an atmosphere that makes you want to whisper. You’ll see locals lighting candles, praying, and you’ll feel the weight of centuries of faith and history in every stone.

After Mtskheta, we return to Tbilisi and the evening is yours. Maybe take that sulfur bath you’ve been thinking about all week, or revisit your favorite restaurant for one last plate of khachapuri. Some travelers use this time to catch a traditional Georgian folk dance performance – and trust us, if you can see one, do it. The dancing involves men basically defying gravity while women glide across the stage like they’re floating, and it’s absolutely mesmerizing.

Day 6 Highlights:

  • Day trip to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Visit the 6th-century Jvari Monastery perched on a dramatic hilltop
  • Stunning views of the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers
  • Explore Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, one of Georgia’s most sacred sites
  • Learn about the legend of Christ’s robe and early Georgian Christianity
  • Wander through Mtskheta’s charming old town streets
  • Return to Tbilisi with free evening for personal activities
  • Optional: Traditional sulfur bath experience, folk dance performance, or farewell dinner

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 7: Goodbye Georgia (But Only For Now)

All good things must come to an end, but this isn’t really goodbye – it’s “see you later.” After breakfast, depending on your flight time, you might have a few hours to squeeze in some last-minute adventures. The Dry Bridge Market is perfect for finding unique souvenirs – Soviet-era trinkets, handmade jewelry, vintage cameras, and all sorts of quirky treasures. Or check out Fabrika, a cool converted Soviet sewing factory that’s now a hipster haven with cafés, shops, and art studios.

When it’s time, we’ll transfer you to Tbilisi International Airport for your flight home. You’ll be leaving with a suitcase full of souvenirs, a phone full of photos, and a heart full of memories. Georgia has this way of getting under your skin – don’t be surprised if you’re already planning your return trip before the plane even takes off.

Day 7 Highlights:

  • Final Georgian breakfast at your hotel
  • Free time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing (depending on flight time)
  • Optional visit to Dry Bridge Market for unique antiques and souvenirs
  • Optional stop at Fabrika, Tbilisi’s trendy cultural hub
  • Comfortable transfer to Tbilisi International Airport
  • Departure with unforgettable memories and lifetime of stories

End of your wonderful Georgian adventure

FAQ's

Absolutely! We designed this itinerary specifically with first-timers in mind. Georgia is incredibly welcoming to international visitors, and the country has become one of the safest and most accessible destinations in the region. Our team handles all the logistics – airport pickups, hotel check-ins, transportation between cities, and a professional English-speaking guide throughout your journey. You won’t have to worry about language barriers, getting lost, or figuring out how to get from point A to point B. Everything is pre-arranged and smooth. Plus, Georgian people are famously hospitable – they have a saying that “a guest is a gift from God,” and they really mean it. You’ll feel welcomed everywhere you go. Many of our clients are first-time international travellers, and they consistently tell us that Georgia was the perfect choice for their debut trip abroad. It’s exotic enough to feel like a real adventure, but comfortable and organized enough that you never feel overwhelmed or unsafe.

This tour is designed for regular, moderately active people – you don’t need to be a marathon runner or mountain climber. Most of the sightseeing involves walking through cities, visiting churches and fortresses, and taking in views, which anyone with basic mobility can handle. The hike to Gveleti Waterfall on Day 4 is the most physically demanding activity, but it’s classified as easy to moderate, taking about 30-40 minutes each way on a well-maintained trail. If you can comfortably walk for 30-45 minutes and climb a few flights of stairs, you’ll be absolutely fine. For Gergeti Trinity Church, we take a 4×4 jeep most of the way up the mountain, so there’s very little hiking involved unless you specifically want to hike (which some adventurous travellers do choose to do). That said, you’ll be doing a fair amount of walking in cities, exploring cobblestone streets, and standing for periods while sightseeing, so comfortable walking shoes are essential. If you have specific mobility concerns, let us know and we can suggest modifications to make the trip even more comfortable for you.

Georgia has a diverse climate, and what you pack really depends on when you’re traveling. Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) are our favorite times to visit – temperatures are mild, usually between 15-25°C (59-77°F), perfect for sightseeing. Summers (June-August) can get warm in Tbilisi, often reaching 30-35°C (86-95°F), but the mountains are always cooler and refreshing. Winters (November-March) can be cold, especially in the mountains where snow is common, with Tbilisi averaging 0-10°C (32-50°F). Regardless of when you visit, pack layers because temperatures can vary significantly between the city and mountain areas. In Kazbegi, even in summer, it can be 10-15 degrees cooler than Tbilisi. We recommend comfortable walking shoes (absolute must!), a light jacket or sweater for evenings and mountains, sunscreen and sunglasses, a hat for sun protection, and if you’re visiting in winter, definitely bring warm clothing and boots. Georgia is relatively casual in terms of dress code, though if you’re visiting churches and monasteries, it’s respectful to have your shoulders and knees covered. Women might want to bring a scarf for covering their heads in certain religious sites, though these are often provided at the entrance.

Yes, Georgia is very safe for international tourists, including visitors from India. The country has low crime rates, and violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. The Georgian government has invested heavily in tourism infrastructure and safety over the past decade, and it shows. You can walk around Tbilisi at night, explore small villages, and travel between cities without safety concerns. The local police are professional and helpful. That said, like anywhere in the world, use common sense – watch your belongings in crowded areas, don’t flash expensive jewelry or large amounts of cash, and be aware of your surroundings. Scams targeting tourists are uncommon in Georgia compared to other popular destinations. In terms of acceptance, Georgia is a diverse country that has welcomed traders, travellers, and settlers from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East for thousands of years. Indian tourists are warmly received, and you’ll find that locals are curious, friendly, and eager to share their culture. The Georgian concept of hospitality is deeply ingrained in the culture – they genuinely enjoy hosting visitors. While you might get some curious looks in smaller villages simply because international tourists are less common there, it’s always friendly curiosity rather than anything negative.

Great news – if you’re an Indian passport holder, you can enter Georgia visa-free for up to one year! Yes, you read that right – one full year without a visa. This is one of the most generous visa policies in the world. You simply need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. When you arrive at Tbilisi International Airport, you’ll go through immigration, get your passport stamped, and you’re in – no visa application, no fees, no stress. This makes Georgia incredibly accessible for Indian travellers and is one of the reasons the country has become so popular with tourists from India in recent years. Just make sure your passport is in good condition and has blank pages for stamps. If you’re planning to visit neighboring countries during your trip, check their visa requirements separately, but for Georgia itself, you’re all set with just your passport.

Q: What about food? Will I find vegetarian options?
Georgian cuisine is a meat-lover’s paradise, but vegetarians will actually find plenty to love too. Georgia has a strong tradition of fasting in the Orthodox Christian calendar, during which no animal products are consumed, so many traditional Georgian dishes are naturally vegetarian or vegan. Lobiani (bean-filled bread), pkhali (vegetable pâtés made from spinach, beets, or eggplant), badrijani nigvzit (eggplant rolls with walnut paste), and various types of khachapuri (cheese bread) are all vegetarian and absolutely delicious. Fresh salads, mushroom dishes, and grilled vegetables are widely available. That said, Georgian cuisine is very dairy and cheese-heavy, so if you’re vegan, you’ll need to be more specific when ordering. In Tbilisi and larger towns, you’ll find restaurants with clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options, and some places cater specifically to these diets. In smaller villages, options might be more limited, but you can always find something. Our guides are experienced in helping vegetarian clients navigate menus and communicate dietary requirements to restaurants. If you have strict dietary restrictions or allergies, let us know in advance and we’ll make sure restaurants are informed before your arrival.

Georgia is remarkably affordable, which is part of its appeal. For meals, you can eat well without breaking the bank. A nice dinner at a good restaurant with wine typically costs around 30-50 GEL per person (roughly $11-18 USD or ₹900-1,500), while a more budget-friendly meal might be 15-25 GEL ($6-9 USD or ₹500-750). Breakfast is included in your package, so you’ll mainly be budgeting for lunches and dinners. Street food and snacks are even cheaper – a fresh khachapuri from a bakery might cost just 3-5 GEL (around ₹100-150). For a week, budgeting around $200-300 USD (₹16,000-25,000) for meals should be comfortable, though you could easily spend less if you’re budget-conscious. For shopping and souvenirs, it depends on your style, but Georgian spices, wine, traditional textiles, and jewelry are popular purchases and reasonably priced. A nice bottle of wine costs 15-40 GEL, spices are cheap (a nice selection might cost 20-30 GEL), and handicrafts vary but are generally much more affordable than similar items in Western countries. Budget maybe $100-200 (₹8,000-16,000) for souvenirs if you plan to shop. Optional activities like sulfur baths (around 15-30 GEL) or folk dance performances (20-50 GEL) are also quite affordable. Overall, Georgia offers excellent value for money compared to most international destinations.

Get ready for your mind to be blown! Georgia is literally the birthplace of wine – archaeological evidence shows Georgians have been making wine for over 8,000 years, making it the oldest wine-producing region in the world. What makes Georgian wine unique is the traditional method using qvevri (large clay vessels that are buried underground), which was added to UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Unlike modern winemaking, Georgian wine ferments with the grape skins, seeds, and sometimes stems, creating unique flavors and textures. Amber wine (also called orange wine) is Georgia’s signature – it’s made from white grapes but fermented like red wine, creating an amber color and complex, tannic flavor that’s unlike anything you’ve tasted before. Georgian reds are bold and full-bodied, while their traditional whites are often slightly sweet and aromatic. Wine isn’t just a drink in Georgia – it’s deeply tied to their culture, religion, and identity. The word “gamarjoba” (hello) literally includes “ghmerto,” meaning wine. During your wine tasting in Kakheti, you’ll not only taste these amazing wines but learn about the traditions, the winemaking process, and the deep cultural significance of wine in Georgian society. Even if you’re not typically a wine person, the experience itself is fascinating, and you might discover your new favorite drink. And yes, Georgian wine is increasingly available internationally, so when you get home and start craving it, you can actually find it!

Absolutely! While this 6-night, 7-day itinerary covers the highlights and is perfectly paced for first-time visitors, Georgia has so much more to offer if you have extra time. Popular extensions include adding days in Batumi on the Black Sea coast (beautiful beaches, botanical gardens, and a completely different vibe from the rest of Georgia), visiting the spectacular cave monastery of Vardzia in the south (an entire city carved into a cliff face), exploring Svaneti in the northwest (remote mountain region with medieval towers and some of the most dramatic scenery in the Caucasus), or spending more time in Kazbegi for additional hiking and mountain experiences. We can also adjust the existing itinerary to match your interests – maybe you want an extra wine tasting day, or you’d rather skip one destination to have a more relaxed pace, or you want to add specific activities like paragliding, horseback riding, or cooking classes. Just let us know what you’re thinking, and our team will work with you to create a customized itinerary that fits your timeline, budget, and interests. Georgia is incredibly diverse, and there’s no one “right” way to experience it – we’re here to help you design the trip that’s perfect for you.

Great question, because understanding what’s included helps you budget properly. Your package includes all the big-ticket items: six nights of accommodation in comfortable, well-located hotels (typically 3-4 star properties), daily breakfast, all transportation throughout the trip (including airport pickups and drop-offs, the 4×4 jeep to Gergeti, and private vehicle for all sightseeing), a professional English-speaking guide who’ll be with you throughout, cable car rides, and entrance fees to major sights. The wine tasting experience in Kakheti is also included. What’s not included are your international flights to and from Tbilisi (though we can help you find good options), lunch and dinner meals (this gives you flexibility to choose where and what you want to eat), travel insurance (which we strongly recommend you purchase), personal expenses like shopping and souvenirs, tips for guides and drivers (optional but appreciated if you feel they did a great job), and optional activities that aren’t part of the main itinerary (like sulfur baths, folk dance performances, or extended winery tours). We believe in transparent pricing – there are no hidden fees or surprise costs. The price we quote is the price you pay, and we’ll be upfront about any additional costs you might encounter. We want you to know exactly what to expect so you can budget accordingly and enjoy your trip stress-free.

Yes, there is a fair amount of driving, but that’s part of the experience! Georgia is a small country (about the size of West Virginia or slightly smaller than Tamil Nadu), but it’s incredibly mountainous and diverse, so getting from place to place involves some scenic but sometimes winding roads. The longest drive is on Day 3 from Tbilisi to Kazbegi, which is about 3 hours, but it’s honestly one of the most beautiful drives you’ll ever experience – you’re not just sitting in a car staring at nothing, you’re driving through the Caucasus Mountains on the legendary Georgian Military Highway with photo stops at stunning viewpoints, fortresses, and monuments. The drive to Kakheti is about 2-2.5 hours, and day trips to Mtskheta are under an hour. We use comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles, and your driver is experienced with mountain roads. We also break up long drives with stops for photos, bathroom breaks, snacks, or short walks. Many travelers tell us that the drives ended up being highlights of the trip because the scenery is just that spectacular. If you’re prone to motion sickness, bring medication and maybe sit in the front seat – the mountain roads can be curvy. But trust us, the destinations are worth every minute of the journey, and the drives themselves are often as memorable as the sights you’re driving to see.
