Detailed Day To Day Itinerary - 8 Days Rajasthan Tours

Day 1: Delhi to Jaipur – Welcome to the Pink City

Your incredible Rajasthan adventure begins the moment our friendly driver greets you in Delhi. We’ll pick you up from wherever you need—the airport if you’re just landing, your hotel if you’ve been exploring Delhi, or any location that works for you. Sit back and relax in your private, air-conditioned vehicle as we drive approximately 5 hours to Jaipur, the magnificent Pink City that earned its nickname from the rose-colored buildings that line its streets.

Once you arrive in Jaipur, you’ll check into your comfortable hotel and have time to freshen up and shake off any jet lag. The afternoon is yours to ease into the Indian rhythm—maybe take a stroll around your neighborhood, grab a coffee, or simply relax by the pool. As evening approaches, we’ll take you to experience something truly special: Chokhi Dhani, an authentic ethnic village resort where Rajasthan comes alive. This isn’t just dinner; it’s an immersive cultural experience where you’ll feast on traditional Rajasthani cuisine while watching mesmerizing folk dances, puppet shows, and local artisans at work. It’s the perfect introduction to the warmth and vibrancy of Rajasthani culture, and trust us—you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.

  • Comfortable 5-hour drive from Delhi to Jaipur
  • Hotel check-in and relaxation time
  • Evening cultural experience at Chokhi Dhani
  • Traditional Rajasthani dinner with folk performances
  • Overnight stay in Jaipur
Day 2: Jaipur – Exploring Majestic Forts and Palaces

Get ready for a day filled with jaw-dropping architecture and royal history! After a hearty breakfast, we’ll start your Jaipur adventure at the magnificent Amber Fort, perched dramatically on a hilltop overlooking the city. This isn’t just any fort—it’s a masterpiece of Rajput architecture with intricate mirror work, stunning courtyards, and panoramic views that’ll have your camera working overtime. The Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) inside is absolutely mind-blowing, with thousands of tiny mirrors that sparkle like stars when light hits them.

After exploring Amber Fort, we’ll stop at the picturesque Jal Mahal (Water Palace), a beautiful palace seemingly floating in the middle of Man Sagar Lake—perfect for those Instagram-worthy photos. Then it’s on to the iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), that stunning pink sandstone structure you’ve probably seen in photos with its 953 small windows. The story behind it is fascinating: it was built so royal ladies could observe street life without being seen.

Next, we’ll dive into the heart of the Pink City with visits to the City Palace, where you’ll see how maharajas lived in incredible luxury, and Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the world’s largest stone sundial and fascinating astronomical instruments built in the 1700s. As the day winds down, you’ll have time to explore the bustling local bazaars—Johari Bazaar is perfect for jewelry, textiles, and handicrafts. The colors, sounds, and energy of these markets are quintessentially Indian, and haggling is part of the fun!

  • Morning visit to spectacular Amber Fort
  • Photo stop at Jal Mahal (Water Palace)
  • Explore iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds)
  • Discover City Palace and its museums
  • Visit UNESCO site Jantar Mantar Observatory
  • Evening shopping in colorful local bazaars
  • Overnight stay in Jaipur
Day 3: Jaipur to Pushkar – Journey to the Sacred Oasis

After breakfast, we’ll hit the road for a scenic 3-4 hour drive to Pushkar, one of India’s most sacred and peaceful towns. The journey itself is beautiful, taking you through the Aravalli hills and rural Rajasthan, where you’ll see everyday life unfold—farmers in fields, colorful villages, and landscapes that look timeless. Pushkar has a completely different vibe from Jaipur’s bustling energy; it’s more laid-back, spiritual, and refreshingly calm.

Once we arrive, you’ll visit the famous Brahma Temple, one of the very few temples in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator god in Hindu mythology. The spiritual energy here is palpable, and whether you’re religious or not, there’s something deeply peaceful about this place. Then we’ll take a leisurely walk around the beautiful Pushkar Lake, surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (steps leading to the water) where pilgrims come to take holy dips. The lake is considered one of India’s most sacred, and the atmosphere—especially during evening prayers when lamps are lit and bells ring—is absolutely magical.

The rest of your evening is free to explore Pushkar’s charming streets at your own pace. The town is famous for its bohemian cafes with rooftop views, quirky shops selling everything from handmade jewelry to spiritual items, and relaxed travelers from around the world. Grab a masala chai, find a rooftop spot overlooking the lake, watch the sunset paint the sky in incredible colors, and just soak in the peaceful vibes. Many travelers tell us Pushkar becomes their unexpected favorite stop on the tour.

  • Scenic 3-4 hour drive to Pushkar
  • Visit sacred Brahma Temple
  • Walk around holy Pushkar Lake
  • Explore 52 ancient bathing ghats
  • Free time for rooftop cafes and shopping
  • Peaceful sunset views over the lake
  • Overnight stay in Pushkar
Day 4: Pushkar to Udaipur – The City of Lakes Awaits

Today brings a longer but incredibly scenic drive—approximately 5-6 hours—to Udaipur, often called the “Venice of the East” and arguably India’s most romantic city. Don’t worry; we’ll take breaks along the way so you can stretch your legs, grab snacks, and capture photos of the beautiful Rajasthani countryside. The landscape gradually changes as we approach Udaipur, with the Aravalli hills creating a stunning backdrop.

When you arrive in Udaipur, you’ll immediately feel the difference. Unlike the desert cities, Udaipur is lush, green, and built around beautiful lakes that give the entire city a cooler, more relaxed atmosphere. After checking into your hotel and freshening up, the real magic begins with an evening boat ride on Lake Pichola. As you glide across the calm waters, you’ll see the magnificent Lake Palace (now a luxury hotel) seemingly floating in the middle of the lake, the grand City Palace rising from the shore, and the beautiful Jag Mandir island palace.

The best part? We time this boat ride for the golden hour and evening, so you’ll experience the sunset over the lake and then watch as the palaces light up against the night sky. It’s incredibly romantic and peaceful—many travelers say this boat ride is one of their most memorable experiences in India. The views, the gentle breeze, the reflection of palaces on the water… it’s pure magic. After your boat ride, enjoy dinner at one of Udaipur’s lovely lakeside restaurants (not included, but we’ll recommend the best spots) before heading back to your hotel.

  • Scenic 5-6 hour drive to Udaipur
  • Multiple rest stops for comfort
  • Hotel check-in and relaxation
  • Evening boat ride on Lake Pichola
  • Views of Lake Palace and Jag Mandir
  • Watch sunset over the lake
  • See illuminated palaces at night
  • Overnight stay in Udaipur
Day 5: Udaipur – Palaces, Temples, and Garden Delights

Wake up in one of India’s most beautiful cities and get ready to explore! After breakfast, we’ll start at the magnificent City Palace, which is actually a complex of several palaces built over nearly 400 years. It’s the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, and as you wander through its ornate rooms, balconies, and courtyards, you’ll be amazed by the intricate peacock mosaics, colorful glass work, and stunning views over Lake Pichola. The museums inside showcase royal artifacts, paintings, and even vintage cars that belonged to the maharajas. Every corner offers another “wow” moment.

Next, we’ll visit Jagdish Temple, a beautiful Indo-Aryan temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, right in the heart of the old city. The detailed carvings on the walls and pillars are incredible, and watching the daily worship rituals gives you insight into living Hindu traditions. Then it’s time for something completely different: Saheliyon Ki Bari, also known as the Garden of the Maidens. This peaceful garden was built for the queen and her lady attendants, featuring fountains, marble pavilions, lotus pools, and elephant-shaped fountains. It’s a tranquil oasis perfect for a leisurely stroll.

If time permits and you’re up for it, we can also visit the Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, perched high on a hill overlooking Udaipur. The views from up there are absolutely breathtaking—you can see the entire city, lakes, and surrounding countryside. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when the whole landscape glows golden. Your evening is free to explore Udaipur’s charming streets, shop for miniature paintings and crafts the city is famous for, or simply relax at a lakeside cafe and watch the world go by. Udaipur has a magical quality that makes you want to slow down and savor every moment.

  • Explore magnificent City Palace complex
  • Museum visit with royal artifacts
  • Visit beautiful Jagdish Temple
  • Stroll through Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens
  • Optional Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace visit
  • Panoramic city views from hilltop
  • Free evening for personal exploration
  • Overnight stay in Udaipur
Day 6: Udaipur to Jodhpur – Enter the Blue City

After breakfast and perhaps one last look at beautiful Lake Pichola, we’ll begin our 5-hour journey to Jodhpur, the dramatic “Blue City” of Rajasthan. The drive takes you through diverse landscapes, from the lakes of Udaipur to the increasingly arid terrain approaching Jodhpur. You’ll notice the landscape becoming more rugged and desert-like, with the occasional splash of green from farms that somehow thrive in this harsh climate.

Arriving in Jodhpur is like stepping into another era. The city gets its nickname from the thousands of blue-painted houses in the old town, which create a stunning sea of indigo when viewed from above. After checking into your hotel, we’ll head straight to the crown jewel of Jodhpur: the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. This isn’t just impressive; it’s absolutely mind-blowing. Rising 400 feet above the city on a rocky cliff, Mehrangarh is one of the largest and most well-preserved forts in all of India.

As you explore the fort’s courtyards, palaces, and museums, you’ll learn about the warrior Rajputs who built and defended this incredible structure. The views from the top are phenomenal—you can see the entire blue city spread out below, the desert stretching to the horizon, and the contrast between ancient and modern Jodhpur. The fort houses an excellent museum with royal palanquins, weapons, paintings, and intricate artifacts. Many travelers tell us they wish they’d allocated even more time here.

As evening approaches, we’ll take you to explore the Clock Tower and the bustling Sardar Market surrounding it. This is authentic Jodhpur life in full swing—narrow lanes packed with shops selling spices, textiles, handicrafts, antiques, and the famous Jodhpuri shoes. The energy is infectious, the colors are brilliant, and the experience of navigating these crowded bazaars with locals going about their daily business is thrilling. Don’t forget to try some local street snacks like mirchi vada or mawa kachori if you’re feeling adventurous!

  • Comfortable 5-hour drive to Jodhpur
  • Hotel check-in and rest
  • Explore magnificent Mehrangarh Fort
  • Visit fort museum and palaces
  • Breathtaking views of Blue City
  • Evening at Clock Tower area
  • Shop at vibrant Sardar Market
  • Overnight stay in Jodhpur
Day 7: Jodhpur to Jaisalmer – Gateway to the Golden Desert

Today brings one of the most anticipated experiences of your entire journey—the drive to Jaisalmer and your desert adventure! After breakfast, we’ll embark on a 5-6 hour drive to Jaisalmer, the “Golden City” that rises like a mirage from the Thar Desert. The landscape becomes increasingly desert-like as we drive, with vast stretches of sand, sparse vegetation, and that huge open sky that makes you feel wonderfully small and free.

Upon arriving in Jaisalmer, you’ll immediately notice how different this city feels. Built entirely from golden-yellow sandstone, the entire city seems to glow, especially during the golden hour. After checking into your hotel and taking a break, the real adventure begins. In the late afternoon, we’ll drive about 45 minutes out of the city to the famous Sam Sand Dunes, where the iconic Thar Desert experience awaits you.

Here’s where things get really exciting: you’ll climb aboard a camel for a safari across the golden dunes. As your camel walks rhythmically across the sand, you’ll understand why these creatures are called “ships of the desert.” The vastness, the silence, the undulating dunes stretching endlessly—it’s surreal and beautiful. We time this perfectly so you’re on the dunes for sunset, and let us tell you, a Thar Desert sunset is something you’ll remember forever. The sky explodes in oranges, pinks, and purples while the golden sand seems to glow from within.

After sunset, you’ll experience a traditional Rajasthani cultural program at a desert camp, with local musicians and dancers performing under the stars. Dinner is served—authentic Rajasthani cuisine cooked in traditional style—and you’ll eat while sitting on carpets under the open sky, surrounded by sand dunes and the Milky Way stretching overhead. Depending on your preference, you can either spend the night at the desert camp in comfortable tents (a truly unique experience) or we’ll drive you back to your hotel in Jaisalmer. Either way, this day will be etched in your memory forever.

  • Scenic 5-6 hour desert drive
  • Arrive in Golden City Jaisalmer
  • Hotel check-in and rest
  • Afternoon drive to Sam Sand Dunes
  • Thrilling camel safari experience
  • Spectacular Thar Desert sunset
  • Cultural program with folk performances
  • Traditional dinner under the stars
  • Overnight at desert camp or Jaisalmer hotel
Day 8: Jaisalmer Exploration & Return to Delhi

On your final day, wake up early to catch the stunning sunrise over Jaisalmer (especially magical if you stayed at the desert camp). After breakfast, we’ll explore the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila (Golden Fort). This isn’t like other forts you’ve visited—it’s one of the very few “living forts” in the world, meaning thousands of people still live, work, and run businesses within its walls. It’s like a small town frozen in time, with narrow winding lanes, ancient Jain temples, beautifully carved havelis (mansions), shops, restaurants, and guesthouses all contained within the fort’s massive walls.

The fort itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site and an architectural marvel made entirely from golden sandstone that seems to merge with the desert landscape. As you wander through its lanes, you’ll visit intricate Jain temples with stunning marble work, peek into craft shops where artisans create traditional items, and feel like you’ve stepped back centuries in time. Next, we’ll visit the famous Patwon Ki Haveli, a cluster of five havelis (traditional mansions) that showcase the incredible craftsmanship of local artisans. The intricate carvings, detailed facades, and ornate balconies will have you taking photos nonstop.

If time permits before your departure, we’ll also visit Gadisar Lake, a peaceful oasis surrounded by temples and ghats that was once the main water source for the city. It’s a beautiful spot for reflection (both literally and figuratively) as you think back on your incredible week in Rajasthan. Finally, depending on your schedule, we’ll either drop you at Jaisalmer airport/railway station for your onward journey, or if you’re returning to Delhi, we can arrange transportation back to the capital (additional cost, or you might prefer the overnight train for a more authentic experience).

As we say goodbye, you won’t just be leaving with photos and souvenirs—you’ll be taking home stories, friendships, changed perspectives, and a piece of your heart that now belongs to India. This is just your first visit, and we’re confident it won’t be your last. Rajasthan has a way of calling travelers back, again and again. Safe travels, and thank you for letting us share this incredible journey with you!

FAQ's

Absolutely! We specifically designed this tour with first-time India travellers in mind. We understand that visiting India for the first time can feel overwhelming, so we’ve taken care of every detail to make your experience smooth, safe, and unforgettable. You’ll have a private vehicle and driver throughout, English-speaking guides at major sites, and our 24/7 support if you need anything. We’ll also share helpful tips about local customs, food, safety, and etiquette before and during your trip. Many of our guests tell us that this tour gave them the confidence to explore more of India on future visits. You’re in caring, experienced hands from start to finish.

The ideal time to visit Rajasthan is between October and March when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for sightseeing. During these months, daytime temperatures range from 70-85°F (pleasant!) and evenings are cool but not cold. The desert nights can get chilly, so bring a light jacket. We strongly recommend avoiding April through September—Rajasthan can get extremely hot during summer (sometimes exceeding 110°F), and the desert heat is intense. Also note that desert camps typically close from March to September due to extreme temperatures. The winter months of December and January offer the most comfortable weather, though they’re also peak tourist season, so booking in advance is essential.

Yes, absolutely! India is actually one of the easiest countries for vegetarians, with incredible variety in vegetarian cuisine. We can easily accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary preferences—just let us know when booking. Rajasthani cuisine naturally includes many vegetarian options like dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, and various lentil dishes. If you have specific allergies or restrictions, we’ll communicate this to hotels and restaurants in advance. We can also recommend safe, hygienic restaurants at each destination and guide you on what street foods are safe to try. Many travelers are pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and diverse Indian vegetarian food is!

This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, especially when exploring forts, palaces, and old city areas where vehicles can’t access the narrow lanes. Most sites have some stairs and uneven surfaces. If you can walk comfortably for 30-45 minutes at a time with breaks, you’ll be fine. The camel safari is gentle and suitable for most people—the camels walk slowly and handlers are experienced. If you have mobility concerns, let us know in advance and we can modify the itinerary or arrange additional support. The pace is relaxed with plenty of breaks, and you’ll have time to rest at your hotel between activities. We want you comfortable and enjoying every moment, not exhausted!

Yes, Rajasthan is generally very safe and is one of India’s most tourist-friendly regions. Millions of international visitors tour Rajasthan every year without issues. That said, we take your safety seriously. You’ll have a private vehicle and driver (not shared with strangers), we work only with licensed, verified guides, and our recommended hotels are in safe areas. For solo travelers and women, we offer additional support and advice about cultural norms. Indian culture is generally conservative, so dressing modestly (covering shoulders and knees) helps you blend in and feel more comfortable. Our drivers and guides are carefully selected, professional, and respectful. We’re also available 24/7 if you need assistance or advice during your trip.

We partner with clean, comfortable, well-reviewed hotels at each destination, ranging from 3-star to heritage properties depending on your budget and preferences. All rooms include private bathrooms, air conditioning, and WiFi. In cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur, we often use heritage hotels (converted havelis or palaces) that give you an authentic royal Rajasthan experience without breaking the bank. The desert camp in Jaisalmer offers comfortable tents with proper beds, attached bathrooms, and cultural experiences. If you’d like to upgrade to luxury hotels or have specific preferences, just let us know when booking—we’re flexible and can customize the accommodations to match your budget and style. Every hotel we use is vetted for cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction.

Super simple! Once you book, we’ll ask for your flight details or hotel information in Delhi. Our driver will meet you at the airport arrivals hall holding a sign with your name (we’ll send you his photo and phone number beforehand), or we’ll pick you up from your Delhi hotel at a time you choose. If your flight is delayed, no problem—our driver will wait or adjust the pickup time. The drive from Delhi to Jaipur takes about 5 hours, and we’ll make rest stops along the way. If you’d like to spend a day or two exploring Delhi before starting the Rajasthan tour, we can absolutely arrange that too—just let us know your preferences and we’ll customize accordingly. Our goal is making everything stress-free from the moment you land.

Pack light, comfortable clothing suitable for warm days and cooler evenings. Bring modest outfits for temple visits (covering shoulders and knees)—lightweight long pants, maxi skirts, or flowing dresses work great. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring forts and markets. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a reusable water bottle. For the desert, bring a light jacket or shawl for chilly evenings. A small backpack for day trips, camera or phone with extra memory, and any personal medications are important. Ladies might want a scarf—useful for covering your head at religious sites and protecting from sun. We’ll send you a detailed packing list once you book. Remember, you can buy beautiful clothes and accessories in India for great prices if you forget anything or want to dress local!

Yes! All entrance fees to monuments, forts, palaces, and attractions mentioned in the itinerary are included in your package price. This includes places like Amber Fort, Mehrangarh Fort, City Palace in Jaipur and Udaipur, Jaisalmer Fort, and others. The only thing not included is camera/video camera fees at some monuments (usually very minimal, around $1-3). Some places charge extra if you want to use professional camera equipment or make videos. We include this in our package so there are no surprise costs or hassle at ticket counters—you can just focus on enjoying and exploring these incredible places without worrying about additional expenses at each site.

Absolutely! This is your journey, and we’re happy to customize it to match your interests and pace. Want an extra day in Udaipur because you love lakes and romantic settings? Done. Want to skip a city to slow down and really soak in the places you visit? We can adjust. Interested in adding specific experiences like cooking classes, yoga sessions, textile workshops, or photography tours? We’ll make it happen. Some guests prefer a more relaxed pace with more free time, while others want to pack in as many experiences as possible. Just share your preferences, must-sees, and travel style with us, and we’ll create a customized itinerary that’s perfect for you. The outline we’ve provided is a starting point—your dream trip is what we’ll deliver.

You’ll have our 24/7 emergency contact number, and we’re always just a phone call or WhatsApp message away. Your driver will also have our contact information and can help with immediate needs or translation. We provide a detailed day-by-day information packet before your trip with tips, recommendations, and contact numbers. If anything unexpected happens—if you’re not feeling well, want to change plans, need restaurant recommendations, or just have questions about what you’re seeing—reach out anytime. We’ve been doing this for years and have helped guests with everything from finding pharmacies to celebrating surprise birthdays to adjusting itineraries on the fly. Consider us your friends in India who want your trip to be absolutely perfect. We’re here for you!
