FAQ's

Your tour begins with a hotel pickup at 6:30 AM, which gives us plenty of time to reach Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station before the 8:10 AM train departure. We understand that’s pretty early, but trust us—it’s worth it to maximize your time at the Taj Mahal and beat the crowds. The train journey is only 90 minutes, so you’ll arrive in Agra refreshed and ready to explore by mid-morning.

Your day wraps up around 8:00-8:15 PM when we drop you back at your hotel in Delhi. The entire experience takes about 13-14 hours, but it’s paced comfortably with breaks for lunch and rest. You won’t feel exhausted because we’ve built in downtime throughout the day.

Absolutely! In fact, this tour is specifically designed with first-time India travellers in mind. We know that visiting India can feel overwhelming—the crowds, the different customs, the language barriers—so we’ve created an experience that removes all those stresses. From the moment we pick you up until we drop you off, everything is handled for you. You don’t need to navigate train stations, bargain with taxi drivers, or figure out where to buy tickets.

Your guide speaks excellent English and will help you understand what you’re seeing, answer cultural questions, and even give you tips for the rest of your India trip. The Gatimaan Express is clean, comfortable, and very similar to trains you might be used to back home. It’s the perfect introduction to India’s incredible heritage without any of the usual hassles.

Comfort is key, but there are a few important things to keep in mind. The Taj Mahal is a religious monument, so modest clothing is required—no shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops. We recommend lightweight, breathable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Comfortable walking shoes are essential because you’ll be on your feet quite a bit, though the pace is relaxed. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat because Agra can get quite sunny and hot, especially from March through October.

A small backpack or bag is useful for carrying water, your camera, and personal items. Don’t forget your passport or a government-issued photo ID—you’ll need it for both train travel and monument entry. If you’re bringing a professional camera with a tripod, there may be an additional camera fee at the monuments. Leave valuable jewelry at your hotel, and bring some cash for tips and any shopping you might want to do.

You’ll have a full 3 hours at the Taj Mahal, which is more than enough time to experience this incredible monument without feeling rushed. Your guide will spend about 45-60 minutes with you, sharing the fascinating history and pointing out architectural details you might otherwise miss. After that, you’ll have around 2 hours of free time to explore at your own pace.

This gives you plenty of opportunity to take photos from different angles, walk around the entire complex, visit the interior chambers, sit quietly in the gardens, or simply stand and admire the view.

Many tours only give you an hour or so, which feels incredibly rushed. We believe you should have time to actually absorb the experience, not just snap a quick photo and leave. Three hours strikes the perfect balance—you’ll see everything you want to see without getting bored or tired.

This tour can be arranged either way, depending on what you prefer. If you book as a private tour, it’s completely customized for you—just your party, your guide, and your driver. This means you can move at your own pace, spend more time at places you’re interested in, and skip things that don’t appeal to you. It’s perfect for families, couples on their honeymoon, or anyone who values flexibility and personal attention.

The train portion will still be shared with other passengers, of course, but all the sightseeing in Agra is exclusively yours. If you prefer a more budget-friendly option, we also offer small group tours where you’ll share the train journey and sightseeing with other travellers, usually 4-8 people maximum.

Group tours follow a set itinerary but are still intimate enough that you get plenty of attention from your guide and never feel lost in a crowd.

The Taj Mahal is beautiful in all weather conditions, and light rain can actually create some stunning atmospheric photos with the marble appearing to glow. The tour operates rain or shine because the monuments remain open and accessible.

However, if there’s severe weather like a major storm that makes travel unsafe or if trains are cancelled due to weather conditions, we’ll contact you as early as possible to reschedule your tour for another day at no additional cost. If rescheduling isn’t possible due to your travel plans, we’ll provide a full refund.

During monsoon season (July-September), we recommend bringing a small umbrella or a light rain jacket just in case. The trains are completely covered and comfortable regardless of the weather, and your private car in Agra is air-conditioned and dry. Most of the time, even if it rains, it’s brief showers rather than all-day downpours.

Yes, all meals during your journey are completely included in your tour price. Breakfast is served on the Gatimaan Express as you travel from Delhi to Agra—typically you’ll get items like sandwiches, pastries, fruit, juice, and tea or coffee. It’s not a lavish spread, but it’s fresh and sufficient to start your day.

Lunch in Agra is a proper buffet at a selected restaurant featuring both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes, along with some continental options for those not accustomed to spicy food. Think dishes like butter chicken, dal, fresh naan bread, rice, salads, and dessert.

The food is prepared with hygiene standards kept in mind for international travellers. Dinner is served on your return train journey, again with a variety of options. If you have specific dietary requirements—vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or food allergies—please let us know when booking and we’ll make sure the restaurants are informed. Bottled water is provided throughout the day as well.

Yes, photography is definitely allowed and encouraged at all the monuments you’ll visit! The Taj Mahal is one of the most photographed buildings in the world, and you’ll understand why the moment you see it. Personal cameras and smartphones are completely free to use, and your guide can even help you find the best photo spots and angles. The classic reflection pool shot, the framing through the main gateway arch, and various perspectives from the gardens are all must-have photos.

However, there are a few restrictions: tripods and professional camera equipment may require an additional fee at the entrance, and photography is not allowed inside the actual tomb chamber where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal are buried (though you can still visit and look). Drone photography is strictly prohibited for security reasons.

At Agra Fort and the Baby Taj, similar rules apply—personal photography is free and welcome everywhere except in a few restricted areas. Your guide will let you know which spots offer the best lighting and backgrounds for truly stunning photos.

We build plenty of buffer time into the schedule specifically to prevent this, but in the extremely unlikely event that something goes wrong, we’ve got you covered. If you miss the morning train due to circumstances within our control—late pickup, traffic delays, etc.—we’ll arrange alternate transportation to Agra at no additional cost to you, or reschedule your entire tour. If the train is delayed or cancelled by Indian Railways (which is rare but can happen), we’ll immediately work on getting you on the next available train or provide alternative arrangements.

For the return journey, we make sure to have you at the station with plenty of time to spare. If you somehow miss the evening train due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control, we can arrange a private car to drive you back to Delhi (this would be an additional cost) or book you on a later train if available.

In our years of operating this tour, we’ve had extremely few instances of missed trains because we’re experienced at managing the timing perfectly.

This tour can work well for many elderly travelers and those with limited mobility, but there are some important considerations. The train portion is very comfortable—easy boarding, wide aisles, and clean restrooms. However, at the Taj Mahal complex, there is quite a bit of walking involved from the parking area to the entrance gate, and then around the monument itself.

The pathways are mostly flat and paved, but it do require being on your feet for extended periods. Wheelchairs are available at the Taj Mahal entrance for rent, and battery-operated vehicles can transport visitors from the parking area to the main entrance for a small fee.

At Agra Fort, there are stairs and uneven surfaces in some areas, which can be challenging for those with significant mobility limitations. If you’re concerned about this, please let us know when booking, and we can discuss modifications to the itinerary.

For example, we can arrange for more breaks, skip the optional stops, or provide a wheelchair rental. We want everyone to be able to experience the Taj Mahal, so we’ll work with you to make it as comfortable as possible.

The Taj Mahal is closed to the general public every Friday because it’s an active mosque (the Taj Mahal complex includes a mosque on its western side), and Friday is the Islamic holy day when Muslims gather for special prayers. The monument is open only to worshippers attending prayers at the mosque on Fridays.

This is an important cultural and religious consideration that’s been in place for many years. When planning your tour, make absolutely sure you’re not scheduling it for a Friday. Check your calendar twice because it’s an easy mistake to make, and there are no exceptions—the monument simply will not be open to tourists that day.

All our tour confirmations will verify that your date isn’t a Friday, but it’s good for you to be aware of this important restriction. Every other day of the week, the Taj Mahal is open from sunrise to sunset (closed on Fridays), so you have six days a week to choose from.

If you book a private tour, absolutely! Customization is one of the main benefits of going private. Want to spend more time at the Taj Mahal and skip Agra Fort? No problem. Interested in visiting a specific marble workshop or spending more time shopping? We can arrange that. Want to add a stop at Mehtab Bagh (a garden complex across the river from the Taj Mahal offering sunset views)? That’s doable too. Just let us know your interests when you book, and we’ll adjust the itinerary accordingly.

The only fixed elements are the train departure and return times—those can’t be changed because they’re scheduled by Indian Railways. For group tours, the itinerary is set and follows the standard schedule to keep things on track for everyone.

However, even in group tours, if the whole group agrees, your guide might be able to make minor adjustments like spending a bit more time at one place versus another. The key is communication—tell us what’s most important to you, and we’ll do our best to make it happen within the time constraints.

We strongly recommend booking at least 7-10 days in advance, and even earlier during peak tourist season (October through March). Here’s why: the Gatimaan Express is extremely popular and train tickets sell out quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. Once train tickets are sold out, we can’t offer this specific tour. Also, booking early gives us time to arrange the best guides and ensure all your preferences are accommodated.

If you’re traveling during major holidays like Diwali, Christmas, or Indian New Year, try to book at least 2-3 weeks ahead. That said, we sometimes have last-minute availability, so if your India trip is coming up soon and you haven’t booked yet, contact us anyway—we might be able to squeeze you in.

The closer you book to your desired date, the less flexibility we’ll have with customization options and the higher the likelihood that premium guide slots might be filled.

We understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly, so we try to be as fair and flexible as possible. If you cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled tour date, you’ll receive a full 100% refund, no questions asked.

If you cancel between 24-48 hours before the tour, you’ll receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, if you cancel less than 24 hours before the tour or simply don’t show up, we cannot offer any refund because we’ve already paid for train tickets, reserved your guide, and made all the arrangements.

If your tour is cancelled due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control—severe weather, train cancellations by Indian Railways, monument closures, etc.—you’ll get a full refund or the option to reschedule for another date at no extra charge.

If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, we’ll do our best to accommodate a new date based on availability, especially if you give us advance notice. Just reach out to us as soon as you know your plans are changing, and we’ll work with you to find the best solution.
